SAN FRANCISCO — Twitter’s chief operating officer, Adam Bain, is stepping down and will be replaced by existing CFO Anthony Noto, the company said Wednesday.

Bain, who had been with the company for six years, wrote in a string of tweets that he “let Jack (Dorsey) know that I am ready to change gears and do something new outside the company.”

Bain’s departure is the latest in a series of executive departures at the struggling social network, which has tried and failed to find a buyer this year.
