Recipe kit startup bites the dust, as competition becomes too much to handle

SAN FRANCISCO — San Mateo-based recipe kit startup Din shut down operations this week, continuing the downward trend of food delivery companies.

“Earlier this year we made some changes to our business model in an effort to get the business profitable and healthy for the long term,” Din founders Emily and Rob Olson LaFave wrote in a blog post on the company’s website. “Unfortunately we weren’t able to make that happen.”
