SILICON VALLEY — Siren Care has developed a way to embed electronics directly in fabric to create smart textiles that it said are flexible, washable and seamless while able to be produced on standard weaving machines.

Its first product is an injury-detecting sock with embedded sensors to help those with diabetes prevent foot ulcers and amputations. It cites research showing that temperature monitoring can reduce ulcers that can lead to amputations by 72 percent.
