CHICAGO — At Alinea, one of only two Michelin three-star restaurants in Chicago, innovation isn’t just limited to the food.

Chef Grant Achatz and his business partner, Nick Kokonas, hired a programming team to create a ticketing website so that patrons could buy tickets (as if to a concert or sporting event) instead of making reservations.

Thus, someone wishing to dine at Alinea would go to the website, choose an available date and time (often 60 days out), and buy a ticket.
