23andMe cuts staff as it shifts focus

SILICON VALLEY — Anne Wojcicki is dialing back some of the most ambitious work at her personalized genetics business, 23andMe, and cut some jobs as a result.

She told Buzzfeed News on Wednesday that her Mountain View company stopped work on next-generation sequencing that can reveal more about what is in your genes, including the potential for some diseases.

But she said the move isn’t due to any financial or regulatory problems. Instead it is being done because there isn’t enough useful data…
